MYSTICAL POWER OF SISTERHOOD

We're truly captivated by powerful women's groups that come together with the intention of creating something unique. That's why I'm so curious about the many ancient and modern mysterious societies of women. Sometimes, these groups seem to possess extraordinary powers. Take, for example, the Bene Gesserit sisterhood from Dune. They wield their influence through manipulation, espionage, and carefully controlled breeding programs. One of their most remarkable abilities is the 'Voice,' which allows them to control others using specific tones and commands, influencing people’s actions and decisions without their conscious awareness. The Bene Gesserit have become an iconic archetype in science fiction, representing secret societies with hidden agendas and extraordinary abilities

When I watched Dune for the first time, I was reminded of the beautiful, grand painting in the Brera Museum in Milan, Saint Mark Preaching in a Square of Alexandria in Egypt by Gentile Bellini and Giovanni Bellini. Gentile Bellini had never been to Alexandria, so he painted what he imagined it to be like. The women in the painting are depicted as part of the crowd listening to Saint Mark’s sermon, and their presence creates a very mystical atmosphere. Their robes, in Oriental styles with veils, signify their high status. However, there's a sense of unease about their role and position within the community

In Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale, we encounter another mysterious world of women’s sisterhood. The book presents a deeply patriarchal regime where women's rights and roles are severely restricted and controlled. Handmaids are women forced into reproductive servitude, with their primary role being to bear children for the elite ruling class, specifically for the Commanders and their Wives. Handmaids are stripped of their identities, given new names based on their Commanders (e.g., Offred), and are subjected to strict rules and severe punishments. The novel offers a powerful critique of gender oppression and the consequences of extreme authoritarianism. This sisterhood of Handmaids serves as a compelling example of resistance and resilience.

And for those visiting Scotland, a must-see are the mystical sculptures that seem to evoke a strange, perhaps exclusively female society. Philip’s sculptures appear to rise organically from the ground, drawing inspiration from natural forms like tree bark, rock, or lava flow in these impressionistic pieces. But as your eye moves from the body to the hands and face, the finish becomes gentler and more delicately crafted.

Would you be excited to join such a captivating women’s community, fulfilling your destined role?
